Premio Universidad del Valle de México por el Desarrollo Social (UVM Prize for Social Development) has adapted the YouthActionNet® Global Fellowship model to provide a tailor-made, culturally-relevant, and Spanish- language centered leadership development experience for 15 young Mexican leaders, ages 18-29, annually. The Premio UVM fellowship strengthens the project management and communications skills of young Mexican leaders, while connecting them to their peers and experts to creating a national network of youth leaders affecting positive change. This customized learning experience, and a 25,000 Mexican peso award to their project, allow these youth to deepen their work and extend their impact

Grabadores Mixtecos Unido A.C. (United Mixtec Recorders, A.C.)
United Mixtec Recorders, A.C. is comprised of young people from the Mixtec region of Oaxaca who channel their creativity through art. Through their artistic expression, the youth transmit their culture to new generations and the rest of the world. As part of Converse's corporate social responsibility investment, these young artists are implementing the Pintando Pasos (Painting Steps) program, which captures the imagery of their region on sneakers while also generating new sources of income. Their art has been exhibited in major galleries and museums nationally and internationally.
Universidad del Valle de México (UVM), a member of the Laureate International Universities network, joined the Sylvan/Laureate Foundation and the International Youth Foundation in 2006 in creating the Premio UVM por el Desarrollo Social, the pilot program which created a model for future YouthActionNet® national institutes at Laureate universities and other IYF partner organizations. Founded in 1960, UVM is one of Mexico's leading private universities. With more than 35 campuses in Mexico City and 15 states, UVM currently provides high quality education programs to more than 100,000 students.
