Libraries Open Door to Literacy in Peru

An estimated 60 percent of Peruvian students lack basic reading ability, with only a fraction of schools having libraries. Recognizing the importance of literacy not only to education but active citizenship, Teresa Boullón founded Un Millón de Niños Lectores (One Million Readers). Watch as Teresa, a 2015 Laureate Global Fellow, shares her goal of equipping one million Peruvians with reading resources by 2021. Teresa delivered her talk on October 8, 2015 during a conference sponsored by the International Youth Foundation, Laureate International Universities, and the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
