CURRENT UPDATES

A graduate in International Commerce and Trade from Complutense University of Madrid, I completed my studies in Cooperation and Development at the same university. I am currently taking a course at the National Distance University to become a certified Project Manager Professional.

I consider myself a proactive, committed and hard-working individual. The need to find local solutions to global problems has thoroughly lead me to work for different NGO’s and, most importantly, to found Ábrego: Environment and Rural Development, of which I am currently head and coordinator.

This association strives to increase the participation of rural population in decision- making processes, the resource management and the daily life organization of small villages leading to the recovery of damaged and abandoned rural environments, as well as the generation of a road forward to build a sustainable future for rural areas. We are looking for a possibility for local development to repair some of the negative effects of economic globalization, which is making life so difficult for farmers and small tradesmen within the rural world. Considering the threats transgenic agriculture pose to small scale economies, we strongly encourage agroecology and conscious consumption. Due to the high unemployment rate that affects Spain, the opportunity for self-employment is becoming increasingly important. It therefore is essential to facilitate techniques, tools and information resources that stimulate the development of this alternative. Having analysed some academic teaching methodologies, we have identified a lack of offer of practical contents.
For this reason, Abrego offers workshops and exhibitions of topics that are based on practical aspects and experiences. We pursue the recovery of the knowledge possessed by the rural population and its associated traditions, the transmission of these assets to present and future generations, and thereby assure the protection and preservation of these important values.
Our main event is ARTIM (Agricultural and Rural Traditions International Meeting) that takes place every summer.

In 2015 I coordinated a project on Food Sustainability for ADICAE (Spanish Banking and Insurance Consumers Association).
In 2016 I was awarded a JES (Social Young Enterpreneurs) by the European University and International Youth Foundation.

I am currently focused on working for Ábrego, shaping new projects and future possibilities that aim for a positive transformation of reality
