Somos Tu Familia uses community service as well as artistic, cultural and sporting activities to develop values in children and youth. They work in vulnerable neighborhoods with high levels of violence, addictions, gang activity, and school dropouts. Their programs create spaces where participants can express themselves and work together, experiencing an environment that is very different from the one that surrounds them, and allowing emerging leaders to be identified and supported. Daily activities range from leadership classes, to guitar lessons, to English lessons, to workshops for parents, film discussions, and talks. Twice a week Somos tu familia meets with gang members in the street, organizing soccer games and mini rap concerts.
